We at St. Mary’s are excited to see our students again, and we look forward to the amazing adventures we will share in the upcoming school year!
We welcome 2 new teachers to our SMS faculty this year: Ms. McKenna McFarlin in Kindergarten and Mrs. Sara Muscatello in 3rd and 4th grade. We thank God for leading these 2 individuals to our school family and we pray that He will bless them abundantly in their new positions!
Students returned to the building on August 29th and enjoyed 3 days of getting to know each other and exploring their new classrooms. A nice 4 day Labor Day weekend allowed for rest and the opportunity to celebrate Box Car Days in Tracy. SMS made its presence known during the weekend with multiple community events. The annual Belgian Waffle Feed at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday, September 3rd served over 350 people. The SMS Craft Fair took place in our school gymnasium on Labor Day. Many people stopped by to view the variety of vendors and products available. Our highly anticipated Food Stand was a very busy place as well. About 300 pork burgers, 115 hot dogs, and 300 walking tacos were sold in addition to freshly-popped popcorn, chips, bars and beverages. Father Shawn and Father Andy both gave the food stand a big thumbs up! Our families sold calendar raffle tickets throughout the weekend, and we revealed the newly-constructed she-shed which you can win by purchasing tickets also. We concluded the fun-filled weekend with our 5th and 6th grade students riding the SMS train float in the Box Car Days Grand Parade.
Thank you to all the SMS families who coordinated the Box Car Days events and to everyone who contributed in any way from donations of money and food to giving of your time and service. We appreciate you. Well done, SMS! Cheers to a great start to the school year!
