The students of St. Mary’s School continued a 67 year-long tradition on Sunday, December 17th as they took the stage to share the Good News of the birth of Christ. The youngest students opened the program with the beautiful song, Jesus, Strong and Kind. Their little voices joined together to lift up the chorus, “We can always run to Jesus; Jesus, strong and kind!” The preschool and kindergarten students also sang a joyful rendition of This Little Light of Mine. Reid Kimball, father of 2 current SMS students, provided guitar accompaniment for the children.
The 1st through 6th grade SMS students then presented the musical, Miracle on Bethlehem Street. The musical tells the story of a greedy innkeeper who hopes to increase his wealth by attracting many guests to his inn. In his selfishness, he turns away a young man and woman who are expecting a child. Thanks to the servant heart of his wife, the innkeeper learns of forgiveness and love, and he witnesses the wonder of the Christ child. Through dialogue and music, the true gift of Christmas is revealed…..JESUS!
All SMS students joined together to sing the traditional blessing song at the conclusion of the program. Family members, friends and guests enjoyed Christmas goodies and fellowship as well. We are grateful for the opportunity to share the message of Christmas and prepare our hearts for the joy and wonder of this season.
